Appointments
Please phone
- 4099 5043 (Port Village) or
- 4098 1248 (Mossman)
We strive to provide the level of service depending on an individual patient’s requirements and ask that if you have more than one problem and feel that you may need longer time with the doctor, to please advise the receptionist when making your appointment. Longer appointments will incur an additional charge.
While we try to keep on time, delays can occur because of the unpredictability of General Practice. For example, a patient without an appointment, but who requires urgent attention, may need to be seen first as urgent appointments will always be given on the same day for urgent medical conditions that cannot wait until the next available appointment, but it will not always be possible for you to see your normal doctor. We ask for your patience and understanding.
Please note that our weekend clinics are intended for conditions of an urgent nature only and patients are seen in order of time arrival.
It is very important that you phone us in advance to cancel an appointment if you are unable to keep it, so it may be offered to another patient.
After hours care
Our medical centres are proud to provide our own after hours care to our community and visitors. Outside of our surgery hours you may contact the doctor on call by phoning 4099 5043. A recorded message will give you the telephone number for our doctor who is on call. Depending on your condition the doctor may attend at your home or hotel room, or may arrange to meet you at the surgery.
If you cannot contact the doctor you may telephone the mossman district hospital on 4084 1200 or, in an emergency, call 000 for an ambulance.
Home visits
Scheduled home visits are available for patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. However, for practical reasons, emergency home visits may not be possible during surgery hours. If you are unable to attend the clinic, and have an urgent condition, you may need to call 000 for an ambulance and go to hospital.
Medical certificate/workcover certificates/centrelink forms
Patients will need to see the doctor to get a medical certificate. If you require a certificate please remember to ask during the consultation.
Repeat prescriptions and specialist referrals
It is best to see your doctor for your repeat prescriptions and repeat specialist referrals. This is intended to give an opportunity for your doctor to regularly review your condition and medication. Planning ahead is necessary to prevent running out of your medication. If you need a repeat prescription and cannot see the doctor beforehand, the doctor may agree to provide it at their discretion and will require at least 24 hours notice. There may be a fee applicable to this service to cover the time the doctor must take to check and update your record and to write the prescription.
