Dr Mark Colbridge

Dr Mark specialises in all aspects of family medicine and general practice.  He is accredited to perform AMSA, occupational and recreational dive medicals as well as other work related medical examinations.

Born in the north east of England and trained at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Dr Mark initially trained in adult acute hospital medicine and then in adult infectious diseases, tropical medicine and HIV.

He then changed the path of his medical career to specialise in family medicine and general practice.

After several years of working at Cairns Base Hospital, and globetrotting, he became a principal partner in a practice in Newcastle (UK) before settling in Port Douglas as a principal partner.

Dr Mark is married to Karri, with whom he shares three children Murray, Daisy and Ruby.

Dr Jennifer Wilson

Dr Jenny trained initially in psychology before moving to studying medicine at the University of Queensland, completing her studies in 2013. She then moved to Cairns to pursue further training, which included an Advanced Skill Year in Adult Internal Medicine at Cairns Hospital, before fellowing as a Rural Generalist GP in 2018. 

She initially worked with Port Doctors in 2017-2018 before taking a yearlong sabbatical to travel the world with her husband, Dave. Realising that they missed the tropics, Jenny and Dave have returned to settle in the area with Jenny becoming a principal partner in the practice in 2019.

Outside of work she enjoys photography, gardening, and exploring nature both locally and while travelling overseas.

Dr Jenny enjoys the variety of medicine that general practice brings, and has particular interests in mental health, women’s health and sexual health.

Dr Jessica O’Connor

Dr Jess grew up in Central Western and Northern NSW. She moved to Townsville to study medicine at James Cook University, which further cemented her interest in rural, remote and Indigenous health. Following graduation, she worked in Townsville and Ingham Hospitals; however, in 2016 to be closer to family she made the move to Sydney to begin General Practice training. She found working in a different environment extremely rewarding and interesting, however, felt the need to return to the bush. Ties to North Queensland have always been strong, having married locally.

Outside of work she enjoys swimming, martial arts, good food and exploring the outdoors with her husband.

Dr Jess has a special interest in paediatrics, women’s health, preventative medicine, sexual health and antenatal care. However, she enjoys all aspects of General Practice and getting to know her patients.

Dr David Rathmell

Dr Dave is a GP who has worked in the far north for eight years. He studied at James Cook University in Townsville and has previously worked at Cairns, Atherton and Mareeba Hospitals before qualifying in general practice.

In his time outside of work, he likes to travel with his wife, Jenny, and keep fit at the gym.

Dr Dave has an extensive knowledge of the local health services in the Cairns region. He has an interest in skin cancer medicine, sexual health, and adolescent medicine.

Dr Helen Hobson

Dr Helen grew up on a dairy farm in the UK and moved to Australia twenty years ago. She studied at Cambridge University and Bart's and the Royal London hospitals before completing her medical degrees at James Cook University. She has been a GP in the area since 2009.

Dr Helen's primary interest is in family medicine, particularly child health.

Dr Helen is not taking on any new patients at this stage.

Dr Michael Keane

Dr Mike is a GP who grew up just outside London and graduated at Leeds Medical School in 2012. He has worked in multiple specialities across the UK and was an anaesthetics trainee before switching to General Practice.

Dr Mike enjoys all aspects of General Practice with particular interests in Older People’s Medicine and Acute Medicine.

In his spare time Dr Mike enjoys cycling, trekking and travelling.

Dr Samuel Kramer

Dr Sam was born and grew up in FNQ. Completing his studies in 2018 at James Cook University in Townsville, he has spent the rest of his time living and working in Western Australia.

Before moving back to Port Douglas to commence his GP training, Dr Sam spent the majority of his time working in Intensive Care. He has an interest in acute and emergency medicine, infectious diseases and women's health.

Dr Georgia Cox

Dr Georgia is a GP Registrar who studied a Doctorate of Medicine on the Gold Coast, graduating over seven years ago. She previously pursued training in General Surgery before choosing to work in the community, where she enjoys providing continuity of care.

Dr Georgia is committed to delivering patient-centred, compassionate care and takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. She recently relocated to North Queensland with her partner and is excited to explore more of what the region has to offer! Outside of work, Georgia loves to walk her labradoodle, Douglas, and participate in triathlons.

Dr Agesilaus ‘Jesse’ Churchill

Dr Jesse grew up in Brisbane and studied at the University of Queensland. He went to work in Mount Isa when he graduated, a place he loved living in and exploring for 5 years, until he moved to the Cairns region. He worked for a few years in Emergency Departments before deciding to switch to training in General Practice.

He is passionate about providing care that is tailored to the individual situations and needs of each of his patients. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, listening to loud music, and watching films.

Dr James Harris

Dr James was born and bred in London and trained at the Royal London Medical College.

Dr James worked in the UK, Spain, Africa, PNG and worked as a Cruise Ship Doctor before settling in Australia in 2008.  He is an experienced GP with special interests in General medicine, minor surgery, travel medicine and Aboriginal Health.

In his spare time, Dr James helps his wife Rachel on their hobby farm.

 

Dr Fang-Wei Chen

Dr Fang-Wei grew up in Brisbane and completed her medical training at the University of Queensland in 2012. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice and has a special interest in Lifestyle Medicine.

 In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and wrangling her two young children.

 Dr Fang-Wei is based in Brisbane and has been working with the University of Queensland to explore how telehealth can be used to support patients in rural and remote communities.

 Dr Fang-Wei provides Telehealth services via video at our Port Village Medical Centre every Friday and has a keen interest in Women's Health, Weight loss and Chronic Disease Management.

Dr Jacqueline Reid 

Dr Jacqui originally hails from Scotland but has called far north Queensland home for a very long time now.

In her spare time, Dr Jacqui enjoys frequent flying, art and cultural exhibitions, food festivals, yoga and hiking.

Dr Jacqui has a keen interest in family medicine, women’s health and mental health.

Dr Jacqui privately bills all patients.

Dr Nicole Rumney

Dr Nikki is a local GP passionate about caring for people through every stage of life. She has a special interest in preventive health, chronic disease management, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Her work spans Port Village, Mossman Medical Centre, and remote communities in Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Dr Nikki’s journey into medicine began with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at the University of Queensland, followed by a medical degree at the University of Melbourne. She is proud to be a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and feels privileged to provide healthcare to the community she grew up with.
